                Contact us: 727-505-8663

Routine, preventative foot and nail care by nurses who are trained, certified foot care specialists. We are completely mobile and come to you! Our nurses are podiatrist trained and certified through the American Foot Care Nurses Association. Don't underestimate the importance of foot health as it extends beyond appearances.

Is an appointment with a Footcare nurse like a pedicure?

A pedicure is a cosmetic treatment of the toenails and feet. Pedicures can feel good and as always make sure you do your research and stay well informed about the salon you are using. There are some great pedicurists out there! However, some doctors, podiatrists, and nurses recommend staying away from getting salon pedicures for better foot health, especially if you are at a higher risk of getting infections such as individuals with diabetes, immune issues, PVD, or poor circulation.

Care from a certified or professional Footcare nurse will also result in your feet feeling fantastic and looking good. You can be sure you have had safe, effective care by a nurse who has the knowledge and skill to care for your feet. Nurses already have a background in health and acquire additional education and training to help with foot care concerns. A Footcare nurse is an expert in preventative measures and helps educate you to avoid problems and pain from happening. Good foot care can have a positive effect on overall health and wellbeing.

Who needs a Footcare nurse?

Anyone who wants to take charge of their own foot health, but here is an example of the type of people who may need foot care:

What happens during my foot care appointment?

We are so glad you asked! A foot care nurse will set up in your home. We will assess your feet, toes, and lower legs, ask you a few questions, then get to work! We start with a cleansing foot bath unless contraindicated. If needed we may trim & file toenails, reduce thick toenails, reduce calluses and corns, help with the ingrown part of toenails as appropriate, apply cream/lotion, and give a therapeutic massage of the legs at feet to promote circulation (as long as it’s not contraindicated). We also inspect your footwear and make recommendation for orthotics, inserts and new footwear. We will make any necessary medical referrals at the time of your appointment.  We will also share with you information on prevention and health promotion. Proper foot care education can help improve one’s overall comfort, stability, and well being.

Are my toenails are too thick, brittle, or fungal to trim?

No! this is our specialty and we come to you! Sometimes you need more than just nippers. A safe option is to hire a healthcare professional that is experienced with these types of nails.

Will you take my insurance?

Unfortunately, we do not bill insurance companies. Unless you are a diabetic and qualify for routine foot care, it is rarely, if at all covered by insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid.

We do, however, gladly except payment with credit cards, cash, and personal checks.

How much does a foot-care appointment cost?

We have standard treatment rates. We never have additional hidden fees. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

What is keryflex toenail restoration?

KeryFlex Nail Restoration is a painless, in-office application that restores the appearance of an individual’s natural nails. This system allows for a certified provider to remodel an individual’s damaged nails affected by fungus, defects and trauma. The composite resin creates a flexible, but durable, non-porous nail that allows the remaining natural nail to grow. The KeryFlex nail is an immediate cosmetic improvement providing a natural-looking nail. It is unaffected by acetone, nail polishes or detergents.

KeryFlex Nail Restoration should not be used on individuals with peripheral vascular disease, arterial insufficiency, peripheral neuropathy, suspicious pigmented lesions on the nail or in-grown toenails. It should be avoided in patients who are pregnant, nursing or known to be sensitive or allergic to any of its ingredients.

Our current service area is in New Port Richey, Florida and surrounding areas.

About me:

Athena is a licensed registered nurse who’s background is in acute care bedside nursing. She has always been drawn to community health, advocates for the senior community and and loves to volunteer at her favorite free health care clinic for those in need.

Athena was trained by a podiatrist and is board certified through the American Foot Care Nursing Association (AFCNA) and is a RN, CFCS-Certified Foot Care Specialist. She loves learning beyond her degree and considers herself a ‘forever student’. She is eager to continue to build on her academic foundations in nursing and foot care.

Athena noticed over the years that so many patients and close family members needed foot care that was not always available to them. It seemed she never had enough time to provide desperately needed foot care at her work and for the people that she cared about. Foot health would always take a back seat to other types of care. Frustrated, she decided the best way to help those in need was to open Ajax Advanced Foot Care to educate the public and provide quality foot care. Our company will come to you for your convenience and comfort.

Preventative care, by a compassionate nurse,

Athena Jackson RN, CFCS
